The 23rd annual Maui Matsuri named Service Rentals & Supplies, Inc. as this year’s Business Award recipient for its commitment to the community, which has been a reflection of core values passed down through generations.
The company will be recognized during the Maui Matsuri Japanese Festival on Saturday, May 24th, at the UH Maui College Entertainment Stage.
“For over 50 years, Service Rentals & Supplies, Inc. has been a cornerstone of Maui’s construction industry, providing essential equipment while strengthening communities across Hawaiʻi. While the company continues to grow, the Ouye family remains dedicated to supporting local events, community groups and rebuilding efforts in Lahaina,” said Justin Yanagida, President of the Japanese Cultural Society of Maui.
In 1971, Richard, James, and Isami Ouye founded Service Rentals & Supplies, Inc. in Kahului, Maui to meet the growing needs of a rapidly developing community. Their construction equipment rental company filled a vital role in supporting Hawai‘i’s expanding construction industry.
Since then, Service Rentals has grown into a statewide operation with six branches – two on Maui, one on Kaua‘i, two on Hawai‘i Island, and one on O‘ahu. The company remains committed to providing both large and small equipment to communities across the islands.
Today, the Ouye family continues the tradition of delivering friendly, family-oriented service while giving back to the community. Service Rentals regularly donates equipment to support fundraisers, church events, and, most recently, the rebuilding efforts in Lahaina.
It’s nearly impossible to attend a community event in Hawai‘i without spotting equipment donated by Service Rentals – a true reflection of the company’s deep-rooted commitment to the people it serves. At the heart of its continued success are the generations of dedicated employees who have helped build and sustain the company over the decades.
