submission criteria and forms
Entry and Submission Criteria
- Contestants must be Maui County students currently in Grades K-12.
- Completed artwork must be hand-drawn on paper (not computer or A.I. generated). May not exceed 8-1/2” x 11” (must fit into a sheet protector). No frames or mounted pieces. No names may be visible on the front of the artwork.
- Only the following mediums are allowed:
Pen Colored Pencils Pencil Crayon Marker Water Color Charcoal Oil Pastel - Only ONE entry per contestant.
- Each entry must have a completed official entry form, with disclaimer form (parental signatures are required), lightly taped to the back of the artwork. Entries will not be accepted if the form is not completed as indicated with proper signatures.

Entries may also be dropped off at the Housemart Ben Franklin store at Queen Ka`ahumanu Center by April 21, 2025.
- Artwork may be posted at Queen Ka`ahumanu Center and online on the Maui Matsuri website with select entries posted on Facebook and Instagram.
- Winners will be notified, and awards will be presented at the Maui Matsuri Children’s Festival at Queen Ka`ahumanu Center on Saturday, 5/10/2025, 10am-1pm.
- First place winning artwork may be featured at the Ben Franklin Store at Queen Ka`ahumanu Center for a week after the event. These entries will be mailed back after being displayed.
- Please supply a self-addressed stamped envelope if you would like the artwork returned to you. Artwork will not be returned otherwise (except for item 9 above).
- Submissions will be judged in four age divisions (grade as of May 1, 2025):
