Zenshin Daiko

Zenshin Daiko is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation that is dedicated to teaching taiko to children and sharing it with the community.
Since forming in March, 1999, Zenshin Daiko was performed in over 1,100 cultural and community events all over Maui and the neighbor islands. Zenshin Daiko has also performed in California, Nevada, Texas, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Oregon and Japan.
Zenshin Daiko also is the sponsor of the longest running taiko festival concert in Hawaii. Zenshin Daiko will have its 26th Annual Taiko Festival at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater on Saturday, June 7, 2025. This year’s concert will feature our special guests, Eien Hunter-Ishikawa and the Portland Shishimai Kai.
Currently, Zenshin Daiko is a children’s group and currently has almost 50 members, ages 5 to 18. Zenshin means forward. This embraces the philosophies on which this group was formed. We feel that we can learn from the past, but, by looking forward and focusing our efforts on the future, we can expand an awareness and appreciation of our culture and have a lot of fun too.
Zenshin Daiko will be performing at the Japanese Festival.
