The Maui Chinese Martial Arts & Lion Dance Association is led by Sifu Arlie Asiu. Formerly known as the Maui Chinese Martial Arts Academy created by the late Sifu Steven Catugal, this school teaches traditional Chinese martial arts including Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan for adults and Lion Dance classes for children ages 7 and up. Zenshin Daiko is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation that is dedicated to teaching taiko to children and sharing it with the community.
Maui Taiko, a 29-year-old nonprofit organization, is dedicated to preserving traditional Japanese folk songs and dances while promoting the art of taiko drumming.
Born and raised in Japan until the age of 16, Ai Matsuda moved to Hawaii to study English. There, she began to play taiko with Hawaii Matsuri Taiko, led by Mrs. Faye Komagata – her aunt.
